Runes of Magic - Demon Witch Ancalon Solo

I finally did it...I finally soloed the last boss in the Forsaken Abbey, Demon Witch Ancalon (level 28).

This battle was a little tough..I attempted it thee times before and failed miserably: the first time I fought it, it spawned adds which stunned me while the With used Fireball, so I ran out of the room and recalled out of FA. The 2nd time, I took care of the adds, got the Witch down to 50% HP, and then died immediately after it spawned the ghouls, since they all hit me at once (2k+ dmg). The third time, I got the Witch down to 50% HP, silenced one of the mobs, and continued on with the fight until I eventually died from the lack of potions. This was my fourth time I fought it..

The trick in the beginning is to CC (root/stun) on of the ghouls when after they run towards you, kill the other, kill the one you immoblized, and then kite the Demon Witch as best as you can (yes, it melees, which hurts..). Repeat that until you get it to 50% HP; at the point, you wanna hit both of the necromages (or use a silence/stun) to cancel Soul Bound, which is a 15% HP heal for Ancalon. Ancalon will then additionally cast Slow (which will reduce your movement speed) on you, which is kinda useless since the range for it sucks (so just stay out of range when it's casted). Then kite the ghouls (CC one of them if possible) until they die, and continue the fight. Then, at 25% HP, Ancalon will resummon them (which was something I did NOT expect), so you'll have to go through the same process.

..I do not recommend this fight unless you have well over 3k HP and some Phirius Pots. The boss melees for 1.4k against me (I have 1.1k defense) and about half of that when I use Defensive Formation (extra 1k defense; total of 2.1k). Its fireball will hit for 400-500, and is something you can't really prevent, since it will sometimes recast it after being silenced. The ghouls will sometimes stun you, so beware of that as well.

My approximate stats:
1.1k defense
1.6k Physical Attack power
3644 health
600 or so Dexterity (dodge ftw)
78.5 Crossbow DPS (without factoring in other skills like Scout Shooting Master or Ranged Weapon Mastery)

Other:
9x Phirius B potions
2x Phirus A potion
1x Elixer of the Sage (10% bonus to all stats..and yes, lol, I was that desperate to kill the boss)
x26 Level 31 HP potions (forgot the name)

I will now level and gear up in order to try Necropolis of Mirrors..I think it will be ALOT harder, so I intend on doing it with a group first to see how each boss works. And since I'm a non-paying PvP player, gearing up might take a couple weeks to do :(

The boss is level 28, lol, trust me. Go to 0:22, watch in HD/Full screen, and it says "28" to the left of the boss's health bar, which indicates its level

good stuff how upgraded is your gear?

It's pretty good..I had a good amount of HP (3.6k) + Dexterity (600) but my Physical Attack (1.6k) and Defense (1.1k) was kinda sucky =(

@Greyscale25 I've checked that out some time ago and you don't get rage from ranged attacks. Unless it has changed recantly. But I doubt it has.

@Verithiell idk, i don't play a s/w...i just think you get rage from autoshot because i believe it does white damage...it's pretty much like the skill "attack", but ranged, for scouts

Well True but my lvl 18 S/K had at time 16k hp and 9'4k pat ^^

@Greyscale25 nopes, you cant get rage from ranged attacks. At least you couldn't. Maybe it has changed recantly.

@Telmo1987 unless you were twink statted, a lvl 18 can't take 1 hit from ancalon...i have 2k def. on one of my alts and it still hits him for 750...and then your average quest gear lvl 18 has about 600-900 HP...
