martina and mary great players mary a little under achiever even if she did win 2 slams and martina was the same she should have atleast 8-10 slams in singles but hey that's the way it went

martina hingis didn't win more because she thought she shouldn't have to do more than have great ball placement. She did, but she wasn't fast enough or powerful enough. Look what happened when Graf got healthy again, Capriati overcame her issues, and Davenport, Venus and Serena all grew into their bodies and games.

@RuthlessFerocity I have that match on DVD as im a huge fan of Martina AND Maria. That match was closer than what the score suggested also, long rallies and games. I don't believe that was the defining moment at all as it was still very early stages in her comeback.

@JamieOwen3 Hingis is no underachiever. She is in fact a big overachiever. Someone like Henin was like Hingis with way more power and speed and has won only 2 more slams (so far).

Hingis lucked out to rise to the top when Graf went down with injuries, Seles was fat as a maternity women while dealing with her fathers illness and some injuries, Sanchez was burnt out, Davenport was still not a champion, and generation next was on the horizon. She won almost all her slams in that window.

Yes! Hingis should've won 8-10 slams!! FO 97, 99 and AO 01, 02!!! And if she had gotten past Pierce here she probably would've beaten that nobody finalist!! I don't even remember her name!! Sorry I'm like on a sugar high at the moment lol.
