Remember that Howard had a pictish hero called Bran Mak Morn. To Howard being a savage was the natural state of mankind. So Conan was racist towards the picts - yes (by Crom, wasn't he a cimmerian!) but Howard on the other hand had great respect for this small race.

what a crappy portral of The Picts man.
The only armor they wore in battle was there own birthday suite. When there not fighting they wore those ancient tartans.
