In 1853 Brahms embarked on a concert tour with the Hungarian violinist Eduard Remenyi, during the course of which he visited Liszt in Weimar, and struck up a friendship with the violinist Joseph Joachim, through whose agency he met the Schumanns. On September 30, 1853, 20 year old Brahms played a number of his keyboard works for Robert Schumann in Dusseldorf. Among these were both the First and Second Piano Sonatas, which Schumann hailed as "veiled symphonies".

Aside from the sonata's scope, a feature that Schumann might have found particularly attractive is the folk flavor of the second movement, Andante, a set of variations on what Brahms believed to be an old German Minnelied, a song with a main subject being love, popular in 12-14th centuries.

  • Incredible.

Can you upload the other movements?

  • @flee2018

Well, you're the third one asking for other movements, but I've uploaded all and the links for each part is mentioned in the description.

Could you please check those links? If they're not working it may well be that you're in a country that restricts the whole sonata. I've checked each link once again, and they're working perfectly.

Appreciate if you could revert on that.

    All the best!

  • @xper2xper

The links won't work for me either, nor will clicking on the videos from your channel page. (I) and (II) work just fine but all the rest do not. It is strange that the first two work but the other three don't. Is there any other reason they might not be working? Are you in the US?

  • @tiltedlamp

I feel the other movements have restriction in your country.

Nothing to be done, sorry that you cannot listen to the whole sonata... I've seen similar examples before on YT.

PS: i am not in USA.

    Cheers!

  • where is the first part?

  • @pisceas

Isn't the link in the description working?

Only links for movements I and II show up for me. I live in the USA.

I'd really appreciate if you could re-upload or send me the other mvts. I am a conservatory student and your uploads have been a tremendous resource.

  • @chadmaster410
