Would it be good to have the mint taste by having straight baileys with a touch of creme de menthe?

That's a good substitution if you don't have mint bailey's. It's going to be a bit more intense and less subtle.

You can, that might drown out any chance of tasting the mint as Kahlua is a bit more potent.

Yeah, because it's not really a true "martini" (gin or vodka pretty much straight). This is like a dessert martini when up against a dry gin martini or such.

A nice variant to this is add a half ounce of triple sec.....Mint chocolate Orange.
