The man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing, which killed 270 people, is to be released on compassionate grounds.Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, 57, was jailed in 2001 for the atrocity which claimed 270 lives in 1988.
Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill revealed that the Libyan, who has terminal prostate cancer, would be allowed to return to his homeland.
The White House said it "deeply regretted" the decision and some of the US victims' families reacted angrily.

You don't want justice TLO, neither do the American's. You want revenge, someone to pay for the bombing and that is understandable. However, justice is only served when the guilty are are caught and punished.
Between 2003 and 2007 the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission sifted through the documents and the evidence of the megrahi case. After 4 years they concluded a miscarriage of justice had taken place and megrahi was granted a second appeal, which i believe would have freed him.

@TLO yes so was the release of William Calley. I will assume you are male and unable to multi task , therefore debating an issue about 2 similar crimes causes you some confusion :)
As for conspiracies, I leave that to the American's...you need to do something well i suppose.
As for facts, yes America did eventually join us in both wars. However, wwII, 80% of American's opposed going to war and sickeningly a high number of that % wanted to support the nazi's, read your history carefully :)

@jockceltic1888 Welcome to your own gov, pal! You wanted "devolution" and "independence" from London - now you have it. So, guess what, when your republic, elected by your PEOPLE, f's up like this you damn sure do deserve the blame!'
Just like with me and Iraq. Am I responsible for the actions of Bush and his cronies, even though I never voted for them? As a matter of fact, YES - to an extent. We MUST hold ourselves responsible first, then we can work to hold the real perpetrators to acount.

@jockceltic1888 Of course I respect them! When did I say that I did not? All we are asking for, after all of our help and sacrifices described below, is JUSTICE.
And now we can't even have that? You want to talk about RESPECT??
You've got to be kidding me...

@amazon1610 Wow - you are watching Oliver Stone repeatedly then? What's next, 9/11 conspiracy theories. Stop with the straw men. This is about Scatland and the release of a mass murderer.
