This video was recorded by Alexander Moroz for educational purposes. During this video, Alexander Moroz will demonstrate you how to upgrade your white macbook 2010 13.3 inches (that was officially announced in May 2010). It may or may not work with any other year macbook or macbooks pro. How to find out if your white macbook is 2010 or not? Basically if you white macbook has Nvidia Geforce 320M video card on it - it is 2010 year edition. If you white macbook has Nvidia Geforce 9400M than it is 2009 year edition. One of my watchers also said that he tried my video tutorial for White Macbook 2009 with Geforce 9400m video card and it worked fine with 8gb ram memory upgrade.
He sent me two screenshots: http://www.alexandermoroz.com/myPhotos/mymacbook2010/ScreenShot2011-07-30_als... , http://www.alexandermoroz.com/myPhotos/mymacbook2010/ScreenShot2011-07-30also...

What parts were in used?

For macbook cover "Black mCover® Hard Shell Cover Case for A1342 White Unibody MacBook 13-inch " was in used. Fits perfectly. Looks great with logo coming through black box. It comes with keyboard clear cover, but Amazon don`t have this information.

For keyboard protector "GTMax Aluminum Unibody Apple MacBook / Pro / Air Silicone Keyboard Skin Cover"" was in used.

For tools - " General - Ultra Tech tool system" was in used. I really like them, and it was only one in Home Depot. Great pair of tools for Macbook for sure. When I said dash 000 I ment pound # 000. Not dash, I ment pound. Sorry for that, not sure why I said dash instead of pound.

Memory -"CORSAIR 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Laptop Memory Model CM3X8GSDKIT1066 G" was in used. I really like them., because of low latency cas 7 and it is a corsair - tested through years by me as overclocker. They have the high quality and ultra high performance products.

Hard drive - "Western Digital Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive" was in used. Thickness for this drive is 9.5mm. Make sure that your hard drive is 9.5mm thick, because if it is 12.5mm - it will not fit with enclosure closed. I don`t like ssd, because it`s not so fast only by 2x but it`s expensive and less storage. So I can wait my boot up time but save more files. Thats why I went with hdd and when OS booted, SSD VS HDD almost the same performance speed in real time applications, unless you are copying a lot, especially when Black Series Scorpio is involved with it 7200 rpm and low energy potential. Very happy with my 500gb - think this is the best choice for me, price vs performance.

Google for the parts to buy them. If tutorial was useful to you and you would like to thank me - I can accept a tips over paypal. Thank you so much.

In total I spend 170 dollars, but it worth it, because for this price you will get from apple 4Gb of ram and 500 gb of cheap hard drive. I got myself at least 5 years warranty for those parts and way more for the money apple offers.

This is my mobile workstation, that is good for anything, only weak on todays games when set to maximum. Anyways, it can play todays games on low, because of GeForce GT 320M and I still can use it for game debugging or 3d graphics. I also will have dual boot to win7 and I will do a tutorial on that too.

This laptop was bought with the strategy to be a multi platform developer.
I call this laptop Macbook 2010 Alexander Moroz`s Edition. I am very happy with it. Your welcome to copy my strategy for yourself. Good luck.

  • Dude, you really like screwing your laptop.

  • @kokomanen I really like performance. My macbook for 2 years like new, I love it. 8gb of ram and 500 gb hdd is awesome.

  • that is one way not to do it.... outside? not wearing any anti-static band? LOL yea this definitely not a way to replace your memory or hard drive.

  • @selen1um I am a pro and doing it for 10 years. So it is safe for me. However for some people it may not seems to be safe when operating in environment like I did. I suggest to everyone to wear anti-static band, but for 10 years straight I did not and I touched/worked with tones of computers and parts. Never had a problem. Yes do not do it outside - I did it cause I am very careful with things and I want to light it with day light to create a pro scene lighting. Thanks for watching.

  • will any memory be lost if u changed the memory card

  • @themagickid000 What memory we are talking about? If ram - you lost your ram memory every time you restart computer. If hard drive than you need to do a back up of your data to be able to use it on new hard drive. Thanks for watching.

  • @kokomanen lol

  • @ma33139 Did you watch the video? I explained this moment during my video. Enable your speakers.

I said that apple has 4 gb maximum upgrade but macbook white 2010 easily takes 8gb.I am running it for 1.5 years without any problems. Why they do it? Well because they dont want to compete macbook pro 2010 that has same hardware inside. Otherwise they will shot themself in the foot. Thanks. before unscrewing the laptop, make sure you learn how to watch a videos. Learn how to listen and analyze.

  • hi morozacademy, i was told by apple the maximum ram i can install in my mac book 2010 is 4gb ram (2x2gb ram) but i see you are installing 2x4gb ram. will that much ram damage the mac book?

  • stop the talking and do it
