While many species of fish inhabit the seas throughout the world, there are none as hauntingly memorable as the Monkfish. Otherwise known as the goosefish or anglerfish, this vastly huge, unsightly, "benthic" or bottom-dwelling fish roams coastal Atlantic waters from North Carolina to Newfoundland. The term "all mouth", commonly used to describe the monkfish, is an understatement. Its enormously, gaping mouth comprises most of its entire body, which can range up to three feet in length. Its muscular tail is home to the tail meat of the monkfish. Contrary to its ungainly appearance, its tail meat is reputed to be astronomically delicious. Although it was once illegal, in France, to display the beastly creature in local markets for fear of scaring passersby, today, the monkfish has grown in reputation for its most flavorful, succulent meat. What they lack in appearance makes them a delicacy in taste.
Why didnt u bother skinning it when u were taking the tails off?
