Mike Awesome made his name in America and Japan. He won the ECW Heavyweight Championship multiple times. Awesome had awesome matches with Taz and his long-time rival, Masato Tanaka. Alfonzo's last match was at the ECW One Night Stand with Tanaka in the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York. He was found dead in Florida the next year. So the best American fed is some defunct league (if you don't count WWE's joke of a brand, which I don't) that hardly anyone outside of the Northeast saw in its heyday? I saw it a few times on Fox Sports at like 2 in the morning, but most of my exposure to their wrestlers was through WWE and WCW when they moved to bigger paychecks and more exposure - you know, the real big leagues, not an indy promotion on steroids that was "special" because of the hardcore smark-friendly gimmick..
