Entertainment for Musicians presents:

The grand epic taken from Dream Theater's Octavarium CD. The format is on scrolling tablature called TABIT. The video is from a screen capture software, the audio is MIDI played through custom SoundFont Banks on a Creative soundcard. Credit for this primarily goes to Trooper (an esteemed member of the tabit community) and secondly to myself for asking his permission to use this here.

At 25 minutes in length, youll need to go and make some popcorn and get comfortable. There are times when the audio stumbles. This is because running the screen capture program, tabit, and the large custom soundfont package really bogged down the PC at times. Enjoy anyways. View Full Screen, and crank it up!

  • does anyone have the missing bit at 17:54 ? I neeeeeeeeed to learn it

  • I posted the notes, not sure why youtube wont allow them to appear in this body of text. send me your email by PM.

  • is that anvil studio u are using?

  • no. tabit.

  • may i know which album is this song from? I keep getting other songs titled octavarium as well in limewire...perhaps knowing the album of dream theatre's version will help...

  • sorry but i don't condone the limewiring of dream theater's official releases. Therefore, I cannot help.

Dream Theater does however agree to allowing their live music to be shared among trading communities. As long as you can't buy it in a record store, then you can get that, but I would warn you to stray away from mp3 and go with lossless format FLAC, SHN, APE, etc... try zomb, DIME, traders den, etc...

    Keep Free Trading Alive....

  • That's so brilliant it's scary.

Octavarium deserves to be seen as an all-time classic piece of music way up there with all the greats.

And I'm not just talking about rock greats but all music in general.

And people say there's no more good music nowadays.

  • you are not dumb, you just haven't heard of it. I like the underground feel of Dream Theater, they aren't spoiled by overblown popularity, they are just untouched epicness.
