One of my fave singers, I have her 1963 concert in Japan on video. The gal knew her way 'round a song. God Bless you, Lady O'Day.

High Times Hard Times. Yes, that is the name of her book that she kindly signed to me with the words "Keep Swinging" in august 2004. My favourite female jazzsinger. We still have the great songs and she will be swinging for a long time yet. Love you Anita. RIP.

An added bitter touch, the Los Angeles Times reported that she "died of cardiac arrest. . . she had been in declining health with Alzheimers." When I hunted her name on YouTube only FIVE videos were here. This lovely brief careey summary is a real pleasure. Thank you bobby4000

I saw her perform in San Francisco at a small venue in 1986, and remember that she sang a few sets during a two hour show. I had seen the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival film a few months before, so hearing on the radio that she was going to be doing some shows in the Bay Area, I wanted to see her. She still had her "chops." Is there any other female jazz singer today with her sense of timing, or scatting ability? She was unique, a one of a kind.
