@ivillek Cont. I think that's why people like her so much. Everyone wants to be completely swept up in by love or to have someone love them that much. In real life, that'll end up meaning that either you are a stalker or you have one, but Dusty lets you experience those emotions vicariously.

@ivillek I love Dusty, but her musical persona was something of a doormat. I once read a good description of "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" as "she's throwing herself in front of his car for just a few more days. Then there's Breakfast in Bed;she knows the quy will go back to his girlfriend, but she's still begging him to stay for a little while, and so on. That's why Dusty is so compelling, she's so much in love that's she's willing to make choices she knows will turn out badly.

@ivillek For me it says, "I really like you, stay with me a bit, but you are free, go and have fun, and come back to me once in a while!" It shows real respect. It aknowledges the lover as a person and not a thing to be shown or ketp secret. True love!

This song is really special to me. Ive heard some people complain about the lyrics, sayn things like "this girl has no self-esteem, no self respect, begging for bits and pieces of affection instead of lookin for a real, commited relationship". I guess I can see where they are coming from. It can be read that way. But I dont see it that way, I dont see it as self-depreciative at all. For me, this song is about real, hardcore, selfless love. The one worth having and living.
Yeah, she sure was special........her music was part of the soundtrack for my life.......Thanks, Dusty. I sure miss you.
