Tornado Warning Minneapolis August 8, 2009

A possible tornado that passed directly overhead. I live just South of Highway 96 and South West of Lexington Avenue and Highway 96.

I thought your video was much better Niiico.

It shows an actual tornado. The area of heavy lightening is where I surmised the tornado was most likely to have been if it still held together as a tornado. Sometimes tornadoes can be back lit at night from lightening flashes. I had no luck seeing any tornado that night

As an aside, my Grandfather came from Egress,Torontal County, and my Grandmother from Valkany, what was in 1907,1912 Hungary / Romania.

I live in downtown Minneapolis and there's a tornado sighted right now by the Convention Center that damaged a church. Heading north....

My friend Mark used to live in a on the 32th floor of Marquettte Square. From his floor you could see the church that was damaged in this storm  as well as the Minneapolis Convention Center. I was in Brookyln Park for work today when that whole mess blew through. In the backyard here in Arden Hills the rain gauge shows 1.5 inches of rain . Channel 5 news had some great photographs and videos of the tornado sent in by various people.

@Worcester2007 I think your right there is a federal 2001 further north of the sentry closer to another sentry off of lexington ave near the turtle lake school and fire department.I know of the one on county rd 10. The American signal one is still in shoreview and there is a sentry on rice st south of hwy 96 in vadnais heights.

@bethatonegirl It's gotta be the siren off 694 and Victoria. I work at that building right there and sometimes I can just bairly hear it. The ones in the distance sound like a Federal 2001 though I have not seen any in Shoreview, I thought there was one by the Community Center there bu when I went by it it looks liket it is a American Signal? So that one was probably Vadnis Heights? I ve only seen one siren in Arden Hills just north of 694 well west because County 10 runs like parallel?

That siren would either be the one on victoria and 694 or the one on rice and country in little canada but i am not sure

I also enjoyed your video and especially the lightnings.

The tornado that I caught with my camera is very strange because we don't usually have tornadoes in Romania. Maybe it happened near the water (the Danube crosses near the place were the tornado was).

I'm happy to hear about the romanian blood running throw your family :)

i live in minneapolis and we were driving home from wisconsin dells and we drove through this. my dad thought it was heat lightning so i belived him since he is realy smart. i was so crapin scared!!!!!!!
