this is very sad : terrible diction, no culture of singing, and allways too flat !!!

Sorry, this is just not. Neither her nor him. Just a no go...

Maria is a great actress, the tenor is wooden as hell.

Whatever a lot of people say I think Guleghina is good here (and in better form than in the 2010 Met production). Shall may not be a Callas or a Nilsson but does she have to be? She's a Guleghina and that's all she should be. And whatever vocal condition she's in (still better than a lot of sopranos) the acting and dramatics are there. She's always committed to the roles and pulls them off dramatically. We should appreciate her for what she is not what she isn't.

She really deserves a better Calaf, he looks like he can't be arssed...:o

@Turand0t Hmmm. I'm awaiting YOUR DVD to form my own idea of what kind of singer you are, as you claim. Chances are you may never have one. I do wish you get to show off your dynamic range, hopefully at the Met. Guleghina has done just that.
She is absolutely breathtaking....exciting, huge, rich voice, with lots of sensitivity

3:30 shows the qualities that detract from the huge potential in Guleghina's approach to high-tessitura passages. Sadly, she seems to fill the bill for those who just want to hear an impressively loud, unfocused voice that often disregards diction and musical line.
