Funk the War 2 brought the funk to K Street, War Profiteer's Row. Somewhere near a hundred of us came to shake what our momma's gave us at the pigs who profit off of this imperialist war. We funked up the Military Recruitment office and Lockheed Martin. We danced in front of Bechtel, the Washington Post, and the District of Colombia Republican Party HQ. This was an Iraq Moratorium action lead by the DC Chapter of the Students for a Democratic Society.

Our hit list:
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - Scorpio
M.I.A. - Paper Planes
Atari Teenage Riot - Kids Are United
Operation Ivy - Unity
Junk Yard Band - Loose Booty
Junk Yard Band - The Word
MC5 - Kick out the Jams
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - Scorpio

Our shit list:
Washington Post
Bechtel
Lockheed Martin
K Street
Military Recruiters
DC Republican Party

  • So it's not the army that is occupying Iraq? Is it the senate? Deflecting blame like that is some serious cognitive dissonance.

Further: soldiers who give their lives (deaths, really), are not the same as recruiters, who don't give anything. Recruiters lie so that they can satisfy a quota (set by THE ARMY) and send bodies to kill or be killed. Youth, mislead by promises of higher education, are tossed like gasoline onto the fire of war. Cut off the gas flow and the fire snuffs itself out.

  • I think what some dude is trying ot say is instead of attacking or not supporting the troops who may or may not want to be over there fighting the war that you should target the people responsible for the war. Of course the soldiers have a choice not ot go but its a bit of a catch 22, if they don't go they will get in trouble. So, consider both sides of the arguement. SUPPORT THE TROOPS NOT THE WAR <3 Peace and Love

  • We didn't "attack" or "not support" the troops. We shut down a recruiting station because it preys on kids, luring them in with false promises then shipping them off to war to kill or be killed.

I support the troops who put down their weapons and go AWOL, and those who turn their weapons around at the people giving them orders and refuse. Do you support them then? Or do you only "support the troops" when they follow barbaric orders from the government? A million dead Iraqis want to know.

  • I have no idea what it is like over there. I was a Marine, 1st Division, i will give no more info. I had one of my friends brains blown away and go on my uni, I had my other brain damaged. I don't fight for the sake of it, but I love this nation. Show some respect for loyal troops. I am opposed to the war, but you still can't support AWOL shits. We fight so you can do your protests, so don't disrespect. I was a repub, but now I'm dem, but stop being hippie, thats not what we die for.

  • ^^^Exactly. Just the way I said it was a lot more harsh.
