I was told it was impossible to "reverse" launch a powered paraglider in no wind. Having done it before, I set out to prove otherwise. Using the cross-armed technique covered in the PPG Bible, it was possible in up to a 1mph tailwind component with an easy to inflate wing. The wind was a quartering tailwind from my right (launching 180, wind from 300 at 3)

  • Amen!

Unfortunately, some wings, namely the reflex models, don't lend themselves to light wind reverses.

  • Thats not tailwind, but sidewind :)

  • Yup, that's what the detail text says. It was perfectly calm when we started (smoke going straight up) but a quartering tailwind came up. I figured that it would sure be clear now if I could pull it off and thankfully, it worked!
