  • HowdyBY, If men became gods, wouldn't this start arguments and possibly fighting against God if they had equal power? Are there different ranks in godhood? This seems like a really bad idea. I prefer the idea of 1 supreme being that has power over life and death and would welcome us

  • If they thought like us, and behaved like us, I suppose that would be a possibility. It's seriously doubtful their thoughts are ours, or their ways are ours however.....

  • @neuraxianfusion A comment on this, the Church cannot be divided because the Trinity is of one essence, and thus for the Church to be the body of Christ it must resemble that which is Holy, and thus be indivisible, indissoluble, and united.

  • @neuraxianfusion ...Word of God. This path is presented to you in his body, the Church, and the partaking of his nature in the Eucharist. There is only one Church, it cannot be divided. Find your way to an Orthodox parish immediately, for the salvation of your soul!

  • @neuraxianfusion ...temporal any longer if we are to partake in these energies, the temporal is not eternal, it only resembles God to the extent that a reflection in water resembles its source, the object. God is no object! Since God is the source of Truth, true life cannot be lived without partaking in his energies. If you would like to embrace the fullness of life, I suggest you turn to the one and only path that can provide it to you, the Incarnation of the Father's only-begotten Son, the...

  • @neuraxianfusion ...in a manner that is incomprehensible to a mind of which the foundation is the world of becoming, 'the world', that is. God is the source of the transcendental goods, which eternally radiate from Him like the light from the sun, and are the things which we partake in when achieving theosis: Beauty, Truth, and Virtue. We do not partake in His very nature, for no man may approach the very nature of God, He would not be God otherwise! Thus why we cannot be rooted in the...

  • @GiftoAll That would be assuming that, when one partakes of the divine nature, they retain the exact same mindset that they had prior to theosis. This is absolutely not true. While the partaker of the divine nature retains his or her individuality, there is a substantial change in the very nature of his or her being in accordance with how greatly that individual exhibits his or her likeness of God. In this sense, our state of being transcends all things of temporal nature...

  • @Christisms The Orthodox don't separate and make distinct nature and grace as the West does. Our created nature is made as a result of God's free will and is thus external to God, but it is made to be able to partake of the divine nature (God's energies). We are brought into an "internal relationship" with God through the incarnation of the Son and indwelling by the Spirit and thus share in the divine energies. However, without the Orthodox Trinity, deification is impossible.

  • See new series on You Tube, RESTORED APOLOGETICS: Contrasting LDS & Early Christian Versions of Deification.

Christ & the early Christians were godmakers before the LDS came along with a restored version of theosis, perfection, deification, becoming gods. I testify there's a restoration of this doctrine.

  • I do remember in Romans 3 where Paul stated that we will be glorified together with Christ. Now, I do believe Eastern Orthodoxy teaches that men become gods by grace and not through essence. However, there is the notion that grace is part of our nature so the question becomes if we do have a divine spark or a divine progression.

  • backyardprophesor, the way you are pronouncing Theosis is wrong, the way you are saying it sounds like,

    To become like Uncle.

If you want to be taken seriously you might as well pronounce it correctly.

  • They are mono.

Aren't the words of Jesus? No man has seen the wonderous gifts that await. No angel has seen the ends of heaven, "Gods' house".
