  • what exactly is this thing

  • @IAmZIM7353 It's a 3D fractal - specifically a version of the z^8+c fractal where z and c are a triplex form (like complex but with 3 parts instead of 2) - just search Google or YouTube for Mandelbulb to find more info, or go to fractalforums.

  • well... that was a bit anticlimactic.

"yes, here we go, let's venture into the intricacies of this imaginary objec- oh... we're flying away again."

  • @DollarTaco Apologies - I need a faster computer and I can't afford to tie it up for more than a few hours at a time at the moment, so overnight renders are the best I can manage.

    Am saving for a dual six-core I7 system :) Or possibly dual 8-core ;)

  • Is it the expected effect? I thought the goal was to slow down the camera movement when approaching the surface.

  • Well it would have, except that I forgot to enable "Exponential interpolation" on the dolly parameter in the timeline :(

I also forgot to change the node settings for the dolly parameter so it was set to linear rather than spline curves.

But I decided to upload the result here anyway :)

  • Mandlebulb was a great discovery, some of its images still continue to amaze me.

  • ita a bungy jump ride!

  • @MakinMagicFractals

    I wish you luck then!

  • kinda shrek-like, you should work with that.

  • I thought it was a kind of neat effect - shows how vast it all this more easily maybe.

    Nice!
