@CptGameWalkthroughs Victims of the Black Plague. They just ran out of room to bury all the dead. And not everyone was rich enough to afford being buried in a nice place. So, they just tossed the bodies in here. It's such a macabre story when you see modern Paris and all the romanticism about Parisian fine living, but the city was literally built on walls of human remains.

@Webkinzgirlio87 When the epidemics hit, thousands of graveyards ran out of spaces to put dead bodies... So they put them underneath the city of paris....

I've just got back from Paris, and we took a trip to the catacombs... there isn't really any way 4 tourists 2 get lost as there is 1 simple path, any paths deemed unsafe are blocked off with iron gates & catacomb employees.
It is true that there r other entrances, but tourists wouldn't know where 2 look.
Please don't b sucked in by the movie.
If u find yourself in Paris & want 2 do something different from the usual, Eiffel Tower & Notre Dame, then go here. It's chilling yet fascinating
