  • Thanx to NorbertR33 for posting this classic. I was wondering if anyone would post one of Phil Silver's appearances before WML. To my mind, the three best-written TV comedies of the 1950s were I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, and Phil Silver's Sgt Blico / You'll never get Rich. Funny Funny man. Speaking of his daughters, Cathy Silvers years later had a support role in Happy Days. Phil Silvers and Joey Bishop on the same stage -- let's see Comedy Central try and top that.

  • sgt. bilko is one of tvs greatest characters

  • When Daly told Joey he had "elicited information" & therefore had asked a question, I was hoping Joey would respond, "Guess I'm guilty of eliciting."

  • Bilko!! Phil was the top banana!

  • He certainly had 5 Daughters.

They still show all Bilko's 144 episodes on BBC-England from time-to-time and they are STILL great 55 years on....

  • I wonder how many daughters he had? Somebody knows?

  • This is the 6/4/61 episode, per the IMDB, the last of 5 visits by Phil as the mystery guest.

  • "Sneaky got me, didn't she?" - Best line.

  • Loved that opening shtick with the water, acting like it was vodka or something. I love Silvers' Borscht Belt humor, always timeless and funny. It'll never grow stale.

  • "And Sinatra's oldest delinquent son." Only Silvers could have got away with that crack. He was actually, at least at one time, one of Sinatra's closest buddies, and had even written the lyrics to Sinatra's classic, Nancy (With the Laughing Face), while hanging out at Sinatra's home.

  • He was doing great until he started using his regular voice. Thanks for uploading all of these great videos.
