Well... now it get's a little nerdy for sure. But let's face it, I grew up as a child of the electronic age and as a kid had the chance to see all those nice early Video Games and Computers in action.
Actually I got the idea to do this just the other night, when a friend of mine mentioned old Arcade games. My first computer in the early/mid 80s was a Commodore C64 with spectacular 64 kb of memory. Programs back then used to load from cassettes on a device called the Datasette. Loading times where huge and I can remember some games loading for like 30 minutes (and it happened quite often that you encountered loading errors and had to restart again).
To make those Loading times shorter some companies made nice musical themes so it was not all that boring - well it still was boring. But some of those early computer musicians are still in business and still make music.

If you are interested in electronic music you might wanna check for guys like Rob Hubbard, Jeroen Tel, Martin Galway (which composed this original Ocean Loader Theme back then), Chris Hülsbeck or David Whittaker.
The C64 back then was famous for it's music SID chip which had a really unique sound and sometimes is still used for samples today.

Guitar Arrangements by me.

Enjoy this tribute!

  • Didn't know you had another channel man, btw, I miss my C64, them were the days, nice vid man!

  • @TheAcousticBassist Thanks man. I started this channel not too long time ago to upload the occasional composition and wanted to keep it separate from my metal cover channel.

  • Very nice Asphy....HeavyMetalizer

I am young and I dont know all these old stuff (i got my first computer 2004) thats a very nice song, thou maybe the original wasn't made by a metalhead with a 7string. And even a kick ass song may it be but 30 minutes.......lol thats a lot.

And its nice for a change to see someone making a tribute to a old game or computer different than Super Mario, Tetris & Zelda.

    Than you for that. \\m//

  • @JamesHeadbangerfield Thanks your comment. I'm not even sure if there were 7-strings available back then - at least they weren't any popular, I'm sure.

  • Cool idea! I had a Commodore Vic 20, so you had awesome computing power compared to me! I don't think the Vic 20 had enough power to play music during the program loading time - although you could hear the aweful digital screaming of the data...

  • @TerrifyingEq Yeah, I remember that one, too. If you watch closely you can see the VIC 20, too at the end of the video in the brochure. It's the "cheap" one for "only" 2970 Deutsch Marks back then, while the Commodore was 4290.

  • Very cool, Seb!!! My Dad would have loved to see/hear this...he was such a computer geek and LOVED his Commodore 64 (I rescued the manual for that computer when we were going through this stuff when he passed on...just to keep as a reminder of him). The music is awesome and cool graphics as always! Keep up with the originals, Seb...I'm enjoying seeing/hearing this very creative side of you!
