This is a video of our 2010 Koi buying trip to Yamakoshi, Ojiya in the Niigata prefecture of Japan. Although we usually only buy ogons from Izumiya, he has some very beautiful and large koi.
I would love to take credit for these koi bu the koi in this video was bred by Izumiya and not by Ushijima Nishikigoi. we do however bred our own koi in Hawaii. Usually 2 to 3 different varieties. This year we bred Kujyaku and sanke. One way to produce great color is to bred a reputable bloodline. For example we use the Matsunosuke line for our Kohaku and Sanke. A combination of diet, water quality and sunlight all play a role is producing color.
how do you breed your koi? whats the technique to get those colors?
