How the hell did you do this?

First we prepped Santa. It was hard to get him away from the cookies. After we shot him in our green screen studio we keyed out the green from the footage. We used Adobe Photoshop to recreate parts of the background so we could composite out Bruce in After Effects. Using motion tracking, time remapping, animated masks and a few other visual effects in AE we were able to match camera movement, remove Bruce and have Santa interact with the environment.

How long would that take exactly?

We shot five scenes from five different films in 8 hrs.
The post production on this scene, "The Way of the Santa" took 32 hrs.

Ok last question what programs did you use?

We used Final Cut Pro to log and Transfer our HD green screen footage shot on the Panasonic HVX 200. Adobe After Effects was used to key out the green screen, composite the footage and apply any motion or visual effects. Adobe Photoshop was used to create background mattes if we needed to cover up any elements from the original footage. Soundtrack pro was used for sound mixing.
