Request from the U.K. This is part 1 of 2. Level 7.

Part 1 consists of the beginning and ending. Except for the last few measures, the ending is identical to the beginning. So I sped it to tempo (8:04)

Part 2 contains the more difficult middle section.

"One sometimes hears the wondering inquiry, What is the use of pieces in slow, sustained tempo as Études? The answer is, They are Studies in Touch. This Étude belongs to that class; for the double-notes in the subordinate section can scarcely be considered a problem. The cantilena, with its dainty shading, should stand out plainly from the accompaniment; the gently pulsing accent on each quaver in the left hand throughout the first fifteen bars, and at the repetition of the principal theme, must be carefully observed." Arthur Friedheim, Schirmer Library of Musical Classics Vol. 33

  • @bbdhrggl what is level this piece?

  • @1SINNER11 seven? will add to video description. thanks for the reminder.

  • Your videos are so helpful, I've learned sooo many songs thanks to you. :)

But, however I must say, that I have difficulty seeing exactly which notes

you play at times. I think this is partly because the angle of the camera, or your fingering

i'm not really sure. Maybe there is something you could do, as I'm sure i'm not the only one having to deal with this....

But anyhow, thank you very much! Happy holidays!

  • @joshgialis my tutorials are for those who read music and can almost play the piece themselves. I used to have rely on concert performances on CDs -- just had to follow the score and listen! at least here, you can focus on my finger movement (not the keys under them). so good luck, and happy holidays to you too.

  • thank you so much for accommodating my request!

i originally learned this etude by ear, now i can learn it as written.

i'm starting with the harder sections first and working backwards. I'm not the fastest sight reader in the world and your tutorials have accelerated the memorization process enormously!

keep up the excellent work and thank you so much for your incredibly generous gift of providing thousands of us worldwide with the access to and enjoyment of music.

  • @kingjepoy thanks. please note however, that technique is acquired by intense practicing of scales/arpeggios, and works such as Czerny etudes. There is no substitute. Interpretation is from within, or can be learned by listening to the masters. :)

  • @bbdhrggl Thank you very much.

  • @0011486 some teachers don't even use Czerny. I believe in scales and arpeggios. those will get you ready. our pianist friend used to play the entire set of Chopin Etudes before starting his repertoire practice! of course, all memorized. incredible...

  • @bbdhrggl Can one play Chopin Etudes instead of Czerny?

  • thank you very much!! you've help me for many times :-D

  • interesting and educational. would help more if there were subtitles or annotations on technique and interpretation. beneficial nonetheless!
