  • I find this to be one of the most astonishing pieces in the literature – comparable to the most outré masterpieces of Brian, Takemitsu, Sorabji, or Ferneyhough – and it must have been a truly inconceivable sensation when first played circa 1930 under the baton of Leopold Stokowski.
