I guess there is not pretty much wind. And to get the windward hull out of the water there is no other choice, thereby you can increase speed by doing that because you decrease the water resistance of the cat.
This is also a used technique at the regatta. But for it the optimum is to put the hull out only a little bit.

Darts are pretty good, but I have to say I prefer hobie cats.
