The Diamondbacks didn't pick a particularly good year to make the NLCS. (Not that I am complaining). The area in and around Chase Field (nee Bank One Ballpark) is torn up to make way for a rather useless light rail system that will serve a very small portion of The Valley's growing population. Well, a story for another day. Because the powers that be at MLB and WTBS decided to have the game at 7 p.m. local time on a Friday (instead of 1 p.m. as originally scheduled), getting to the stadium was a logistical nightmare for most folks. Given few, if any people, live within walking distance of Chase Field (unless you are staying at the Hyatt or work at the Arizona Republic), it's a drive and park gambit.

In order to avoid Friday afternoon rush hour traffic and the construction mess near Chase Field, we left our house at 4:30, almost three hours before the National Anthem. It was the optimal window to snake our way through the traffic and scoot around the mess that is a series of single-lane streets by Chase Field. So, we were at the Park a few hours before first pitch. We were not the only ones, by the way. We heard others mention the same issue with the traffic and construction.

And, as fate would have it, the Dbacks lost in 11 innings, more than four hours after the game started.

  • I'm a die hard Cards fan, but if I was to go see any other team at any ballpark, it'd be the D-Backs at Chase. Gotta respect a team that wins a World Series within the first 3 years of even being a team.

  • the swimming pool is in the pre-game for them on mlb 11 the show also

  • @WhiiplashOne You would be surprised of the source of the money for the malls and stadiums and arenas. The narrative on this vid indicates a light rail system being built outside of the ball park. Believe it or not from the Oscars to Bank One Ballpark current Obamas in the White House are engaged in fraud against me. In SEC docs. their lawfirm of Sidley Austin brokered a huge deal from my co. of Zenadev ILLEGALLY. Bank One+Chase=JP Morgan Chase & Co. sponsor of Oscars from my estate ILLEGALLY.hr

  • @BarnStar101 In the video it does, but when you walk there in person it really doesn't.

  • the concourse looks more like a mall.

  • Ya I know right

  • i been to chase field before it was not that pack diamondbacks vs giants

  • The fans that didn't threw things or boo because the players were pulled off the field - THEY are the ones that showed class, and I agree THEY got a bad rap. If you are one of them, I applaud you.

  • By what this guy said, it sounds like he was defending those fans that threw things:

"Last night the fans got a bad rap here, on WPBS, when they were chided, for tossing some bottles and other things out on the field."

The fans that tossed stuff should have been kicked out, and the fans that booed when the Rockies came back out (after being pulled for their safety) showed a lack of class.

  • Dude, shut up. Every team in every city has those select fans who would do something like throwing crap on the field. The call was not BS I will agree to that but to say the fans have no class is a joke. Seeing how I highly doubt every fan in the stands was throwing something. In the section I was sitting in nobody threw anything and we were in range of the field to get trash on the field.

Point is it was a select few who threw crap. Every team has those fans. Get over yourself.
