The 28th segment for my speedrun of Baten Kaitos Origins.
Quick note to my subscribers who I teased with the last vid: I'll try to upload an SSR vid for every 5 segments of this run I do, just to keep you aboard. This isn't an exact number, so don't hold me to it after five more segments.
Anyways, as for this video, I had an amazing fight on the first of the "Killer Five", the five hardest bosses in the game. Some notes:
- I kill them in this order simply because Heughs deals a lot of damage, forcing me to waste time healing, and goes down the fastest (same HP as Nasca but less defense). Yes, Nasca can be more annoying with Stun Grenade's blindness and Gashprin Salve's healing, but with enough retries that doesn't come into play. Valara has to go down last, as she has a lot of HP and gets more aggressive when she gets lower.
- The weak combos at the start are mostly for MP buildup, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that in another video. Just remember they aren't for damage.
- I do that long relay combo after taking down Nasca for four reasons. First of all, I know this battle well enough to realize I can get off a long combo without having to worry about anyone interrupting it once the other two are dead (not really a reason, but whatever). Secondly, by using the relay combo, my characters instantly equip their weapons, saving precious seconds of attack animation. Thirdly, the longer the combo, the better the knockdown, keeping Valara out of the picture for a while. Finally, although not at all required, there is a chance that if I get enough TP I will hit class 8, which will still be helpful (note that I won't be trying for this if it loses time though).
- I hold off Guillo's attack at the end simply because I'm fairly sure Sagi will kill Valara with his combo. If I had let Guillo go at full speed, he would not kill Valara, and most of Sagi's attacks would be overkill. By pulling him back and using him as a safety net just in case Sagi didn't kill, I saved time.
