This is a compilation and fake attempt at recreating the old E3 1996 gameplay commercial. The original commercial I felt was way to short and kind of sloppy lol. I love Sonic X-Treme and I think if it was completed and released it would have been a great Sonic game and a lot of fun to play. I thought it had a lot of creativity and potential. I also wanted to dedicate this video to the original team that worked on Sonic X-treme even though they probably will never watch it lol. If they showed a video like this off to the world during that time it probably would have impressed a lot more people, it seemed this game was very under rated.

The beginning of the video gives off the impression of someone turning on the Sega Saturn and booting up the game as if it was released. Showing off the possible title screen you then begin in Jade Gully Zone. From there it goes to the commercial and compilation style showing off several different levels. Then one of my favorite parts to Sonic X-Treme and the video showing off the 360 degree worlds. Showing different clips of the worlds rotating and Sonic spinning through them.

From there is X-Treme worlds, just like the original commercial I wanted this portion to show how intense some sections of the worlds were, where Sonic is moving very fast, spinning and twisting through different areas and roads. Also one of my most favorite elements to the video. After that portion the video will show off the different puzzle solving elements to the game along with avoiding obstacles and enemies.

The next section of the video shows off the Fish Eye Lens also known by the E3 Commercial Realex Lens. Showing unique camera angles and how the camera worked in this style of gameplay. Afterwards the video shows Sonic killing enemies and avoiding booby traps like falling objects and ceilings. Then showing the really cool looking Spin Slash Sonic was going to have. The new Sonic game Sonic Colours has a powerup where Sonic turns into spikes that looks very similar to this and I wonder if the idea came from Sonic X-Treme.

Lastly the video shows remaining Sonic X-Treme footage just like how the beginning did showing off various levels the game had. Following a very well suited, true and sad ending. This video took me believe it or not 2 years to make. It was first made in Windows Movie Maker one of the worst video making programs. When I got a better program I decided to do it from scratch all over again due to the video's quality being so poor due to Windows Movie Maker. Editing clips with that program is a nightmare and it often crashed making me start all over again. The video isn't perfect, this one has some editing errors and flash abuse but I think this is as good as I can get it to get.

The video is kind of long but I hope you enjoy it, the length is because it is also a compilation. I wanted to show off everything Sonic X-Treme had to offer from what video sources we have available thus far. Unfortunately not all clips look nice, thats because some clips which is the only footage we have were recorded with a camera off a Television and some clips that moved ridiculously fast. This is my personal dedication to Sonic X-Treme a potentially good Sonic game that wasn't given the time a day and attention it rightful deserved and unfortunately never got to see the light of day.

  • Where's the spin slash?! i only saw it in e3 form what about game form?

  • @Faron64 I don't think they had it fully implemented in gameplay yet at the time. The levels were only like 50% completed and the gameplay videos that were released are earlier gameplay videos than E3. I'd really love to see full length gameplay from the E3 version of this game. The game was close to being completed when it was canned. Notice the badniks aren't even fully implemented in the early videos but when I show the E3 footage they are completely there and functional.

  • @SonicGenesis89 well im the first commenter on this video so i have a question does this unfinished game have a rom? i really wanna play this game (allot of unfinished games have roms)

  • @Faron64 No, unfortunately there has been no playable versions of this game released. There is the Nights Engine that was dumped a while back but its a very early build and its only a land of grass with some Flickies to run around on. Nothing to exciting, if you want to see it look it up on Youtube. Search Sonic Xtreme Nights Engine and you should find a bunch of gameplay videos.

  • looks decent, granted it was still under development...still I would rather have the adventures games...

  • Where did you get the Sonic X-treme soundtrack?

  • @BIMBOBOOP

Actually the people at Sega of Japan told them to remake the completed game - with the boss fight engine, causing all workers to get sick from overworking including the person with the idea of the game and it got cancelled.

  • i want this game for my saturn emulator

anyone know where to get this version

  • @themadhacker2 It was auctioned of to a person who would not share the files

  • since the game was pretty far when they canceled it, does anybody have the original roms?

  • @neosamus98 Why do you think that?

  • This would be perfect for the Nintendo 3DS...

  • This could have saved the 32X/Neptune or the Sega Saturn - or both - had it been a launch title and came with the system!!!

Then they could have had time to work on a sequel and Shenmue may have had some more time to develop and a chance to be released as well...what a shame this game looks so rad!

  • This Game is MIND FUCK!!! - is soo beast! 0:50
