Well, here's the first "full-length" HDRI render, of the SketchUp model, using area lights in Cheetah3D. I know the artifacting will take the edge off this, but the light quality is really something else. Chapeau to Martin Wengenmayer, creator of Cheetah!

I used a Spline follower for the camera, rather than explicitly keyframing it, so some odd transitions...

  • Really cool... I also liked your LightUp version. Have you given Kerky a try, too?

  • Thank you! Check out the hi-rez version posted as a response.

Kerky...no. Too much other stuff to do. LightUp really is amazing, though. True, the results will never be as good as a dedicated, frame-by-frame raytracer, but its real-time capabilities are fantastic. And when it can finally export fully-baked models, I'm taking it into Unity to make a walkthrough that I'll distribute...

  • Can this be viewed in real time or is it scene by scene? / frame I should say.

  • Actually, it could be viewed in real time, if I could get around to making a properly HDRI-baked version of the model, then take it into Unity and export it as a stand-alone, navigable app.

  • Actually, check out the hi-res version I've posted as a response...

  • very nice renderings...how long did u take?

  • I think this one took around two-and-a-half days to render out on a Mac Pro 2.0 GHz...aat 15 fps. Unfortunately, the new rendering engine in Cheetah is slower (but higher quality). Luckily, files are still backward-compatible...

  • amazing, you're very talented!

  • nice
