This amazing lecture was given by Professor Lawrence Lessig (http://lessig.org/), the founder of Creative Commons. He was speaking at the University of Hong Kong on October 24, 2008. Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that provides a sensible alternative to Copyright, offering licencing options that enable content creators to define the terms for protection of their intellectual property. The lecture was the precursor to the official launch in Hong Kong of Creative Commons, held the next day on October 25, 2008.

The various idiotic actions carried out in the name of Copyright are enough to confuse any sensible person. Children are branded as criminal, elderly grandmothers are prosecuted, corporations sue users who add value to their products; the weaknesses of Copyright are becoming more evident with each passing day. Professor Lessig argues that Copyright is insufficient for the Internet generation, and masterfully outlines his case for the necessity of an alternative liucencing scheme that takes into consideration the Internet and the creativity it engenders, particularly such things as remix culture.

Video quality is not the best, but the screen is always visible and Professor Lessig may be heard clearly.

The entire lecture is available in 6 parts:
