  • Thanks for the video. I'm building a 16x12 shed and wasn't sure what to do on the roof.

  • @jdwalte3 Depends on what type of weather you have in your area? If you need with stand a snow load use a beam as a ridge, like a 4x6 or 4x8 16 ' long then use 2x6 ceiling joists with 2x6 rafters. If you are not in area with snow, then you could use just 2x6 rafter with a 2x8 ridge, and add a collar tie like the video shows, just beef it up

to carry a longer span. Brian

  • We are in Oregon, not required, always check with your local building department code requirements, Thanks Brian

  • is 30# felt really that much better than 15# felt?

  • No... you have a higher chance of getting lumps under the roofing, most all composition roofing require you to use 15# felt, 30# will void the warranty. thanks for the question.

  • @DoItYourselfBuilder if u r going to be paper as u roof it just tac the top of the paper about every foot that way it won't wrinkle

  • @ThesuperBoss2011 Thank you for the comment, yes you could do that, but with a little wind it would come off.
