Psych 101. You grew up seeing it that way and are accustomed to it. Something different "appears" strange and dislike it as a result.. If performers wore microphones for years then some used stands, you would call that stupid too.

@JustPlainDB THe one on a stand are even more in the way. No one has invented invisible microphones yet. And no, those short phone ones don't work good enough for music audio.
