Poova Thalaiya with English subtitles - K. Balachander's 'Poova Thalaiya' is a melodramatic family drama of the 70's starring actor Gemini Ganesan in lead. The story follows a selfish and dominating woman Parvathammal who lives with her widowed son-in-law Ganesh (Gemini Ganesan). Secretly she desires to marry off her youngest daughter Nirmala to Ganesh but faces opposition from Ganesh's brother Shankar (Jai Shankar). As the story progresses, there's a surprise element in store for the audience as they get to know some more juicy details about Parvathammal's life.
