This was a celebration of Ruggiero Ricci's 91st Birthday at Scripps College Claremont California on 7/31/09. It was part of a forum for the San Diego Chamber Music Workshop (www.sdcmw.com). My name is Roy M. Bak, MD & I am an Anesthesiologist & amateur violinist who is fortunate enough to take an occasional lesson with the Maestro. As many know, he is one of the true legends of the violin. Historically, one of the greatest violinist of the 20th century, who literally recorded every known piece for the violin, including ones that most wouldn't touch! His command of the instrument and its technique is unique & one can only imagine what it would be like to hear Paganini when one listens to Ruggiero Ricci. That being said, we started off with a masterclass format where I performed the Bach Chaconne & then opened up the forum for a question & answer. Most interesting for violin enthusiasts and I am humbled by the fact that I could be a part of it. My sincerest thanks goes to Ruggiero's wife Julia Ricci & my dearest girlfriend Elena who was instrumental in recording the event. Please enjoy!!
