JOHN MCCAIN: But at the same time, my record is very clear about [inaudible] as the rights of the unborn and I continue to do so. Let me just mention one other reason that's important and that is my friends the appointment of the judges. As we know, as you know, there might be 2 and some say 3 vacancies on the United States Supreme Court. I believe that Justice Roberts and Justice Alito are two of the finest appointments that we have had in the history. Now I voted for Justices Breyer and Ginsburg not because what I believe what they supported or their ideology but I believe they were qualified. And elections have consequences. President Clinton was elected and reelected, he nominated people of his choice. And so I voted for them. But I was so grateful and pleased when President Bush appointed Justice-nominated Justices Alito and Roberts. So Senator Obama voted against both of them and opposed both of them on ideological grounds. We can't set an ideological barrier or standard in the United States Senate. We'll never get anybody confirmed by the Senate. So I want to assure you that there's a dramatic difference Senator Obama and myself. He opposed Roberts and Alito, he wanted to filibuster Alito. And I want to tell you right now I will nominate judges to the Federal court that strictly interpret the Constitution of the United States, do not legislate from the bench.

Obama Who Threatened To Filibuster Alito, Says Kagan Deserves Fair Shake

I hope the GOP' find some really smelly dirt on his nominee, and promptly Bork her in earnest. It's been 23 years, the Regressive Party of Looters has yet to be repaid in full for what Ted Kennedy did. I can't think of a better way to do this than to drag this neo-Socialist's name through the mud, followed by a ridiculously lengthy filibuster. Ending it just short of the Christmas recess ought to do the trick.
