you should start him up with the eastern shoreman, my niece mastered it when she was 5 years ago,,3 years ago,you'll smile when he makes those sweet honk's cluck and moans,i'm not lying about the eastern shoreman flute it's that easy to use.

actually a flute will help with air control and lung capacity i started on a flute and then a short reed and i think a short reed is to easy now.

Get him started on a short reed early. It'll benefit him in the long run.
