  • @dirkdigla1914: as the description says: Basic Hung kyun techniques and skills.

all the techniques are taken directly from the traditional sets, all the techniques used are not pre-arranged - no Chinese opera, no movie gungfu, but traditional martial art for the modern world, reality based self-defense.

  • @lghk I'm not trying to troll you or anything but calling those forms that some people spend hours upon hours practicing "Chinese Opera" is kinda messed up. Just because you dont want to fight using real Hung Gar it doesnt mean that you should degrade the forms. Although I dont do hung gar myself I do Xingyiquan and the forms work for me....and all I can say is Kung fu is not dead. Dont degrade traditional forms just because you can't use them in sparring or in a real fight. Peace!

  • hung gar????????

  • also, instead of criticising others...I like to watch what people do and use it as a guage to see the holes in my own kung fu...we are family all over the world and should be helpful to our kung fu brothers

  • good job guys....I saw movements from forms being applied in this sparring...but a lot of times the movements are very subtle..also, through training forms you develop attributes that apply when you fight...the movements aren't the only thing that apply to fighting....training hung gar makes the body tough which is an attributle for example...there is more but you can see it out...thanks for the video of your students

  • @lghk The forms are the base for any style. This is what you guys misunderstand. Why did you think the masters in the past fought so hard to preserve those Chinese Opera-nonrealitistic-no movie gungfu forms? They must've have some use..right? It's true that the kung fu is exaggerated in movies but a real practitioner will atleast try to apply the forms in real combat. How much time do you spend on forms? 4-7 minutes? I hope not...

not trying to be rude but...ima have to agree with dirkdigla.

  • @dirkdigla1914 i konw what you mean to say and you are correct and very insightful to say so. if you are sincerely asking and want to discuss this further send me a private message.

  • @dirkdigla1914 and pretty hard contact. Which is more practical since a lot of Hung Gar is conditioning of the forearms and hand for blocking and attacking unprotected.

Hung Gar practitioners were actually famous for hurting someone so badly with their conditioned baseball bat forearms with just a block that people would not want to fight them.

Sometimes it's hard to understand martial arts I know. But these are deadly arts developed over 1500 years. They definitely know what they're doing.

  • @dirkdigla1914 very important too. Besides you don't actually expect real life fighting to look like movie kung fu do you?

Granted they are not traditional using that headgear and equipment and most of the techniques are sloppy. But proper Gung Fu comes with years of practice and is not only a way of life but something you can only be truly good at with dedication and hard work. Gung Fu literally translated means "Hard work to achieve great skill"

My sifu trains us with no pads,

  • @dirkdigla1914 You also have to understand that full movements in those stances creates full body strength and good body mechanics understanding to generate your power. When practiced in those ways you will understand the way in which you need to move your body to make them powerful and damaging attacks.

With the right Sifu to show you the proper application every step of the way, regular practice of forms can turn you into a deadly martial artist. Sparring and other human training is also,
