Dean Geoffrey Cowan and an all-star panel of USC Annenberg faculty gave a stimulating discussion of the role of the news media in covering the 2004 Presidential election. ABC News correspondent and journalism professor Judy Muller moderates the discussion with Marty Kaplan, USC Annenberg associate dean and director of the Norman Lear Center who ran Walter Mondale's 1984 Presidential campaign; Dan Schnur, adjunct professor and former senior communication adviser to Sen. John McCain and Gov. Pete Wilson; and Cinny Kennard, journalism professor, director of NPR West, and veteran network television war and political correspondent who has covered President George Bush since his service as Governor of Texas. As an added bonus, a visit from Herb Klein, the USC alum who served as White House Communication director for President Richard Nixon and later as editor in chief of Copley Newspapers, including the San Diego Union Tribune.
