There are nearly 10,000 homeless families in New York City according to DHS--the Department of Homeless Services. Many of these families become trapped in a vicious cycle of "overnights" because DHS has denied them a place in a shelter.

  • @barebucta to SOME extent i do agree with u. there are homeless ppl who would rather live off the system instead of working and paying their own way. However, I'm sure that u realize that economic times, NOT JUST IN NYC but all over the usa, sucks and its not that easy to just find a job these days. I feel for the people who are homeless that try to find work to get a place to live. I dont feel for the people who purposly sponge off the system just to get a free handout cuz they dont need it.

  • Why not TRY and get a job instead of looking for a handout? Wake up and stop the ''I'm entitled attitude.''

  • this is the truth.....

  • This is very scary!
