First of all, I would like to apologise for the several bugs and delays in the beta-test...

As of 1st August 2011, this video demonstration is NOT the official release of Near-Field Communication (NFC) on all Android devices in Singapore. I have tweaked both hardware and software settings on my rooted Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 running on the official Darkys ROM version 10.2 (Extreme Edition) complementing their default version of the Dark Core kernel. This has enabled fully-functioned transactions directly from my EZ-link card.

Please DO NOT try this on your phone unless you are a risk-taker who is willing to sacrifice time and money.

On every EZ-link card, there is a unique code on it. This code has been presetted on my phone and programmed together with the EZ-Torch application. Note that the EZ-Torch application is NOT found on the Android Market and the Internet. Using the Super Manager app, the EZ-link code will be used to sign into the APK file for permissions and access.

I will not elaborate further on how I did it as this is TOP SECRET and not found anywhere on the Internet.

This video has been copyrighted solely by me and has not, in any means, violated the law of transport services in Singapore. Every single trip illustrated in this video has fares deducted accordingly, just that they were done through a different mode of payment which looks as though it was NFC.

  • @hhtan76 well yes, but I am guessing most likely that I did the wrong way since I could not get it working 100%. Given up haha! But the components are still soldered inside though just in case...

  • @dominicsoon No. You still have to pay the fares as they are deducted accordingly when I checked my ezlink card. As for how the fares are monitored, I was unable to present the deducted values to my phone but the transacted value was shown correctly on my card. This is a difficult process and I have given up on this project 3 months ago. All I could manage was shown in this video. However, I managed to fix the bugs in this video.

  • The amount of money you hear in my ez-torch application is just a dummy value. I am still trying to figure out how to synchronise the updated value with my ez-link card after every transaction or top-up.

  • wow you are a genius!

did u have to add NFC hardware mod to the phone to achieve this?

  • does this mean that you can take the MRT for free? how is the cash value in your phone "monitored"?
