  • It's funny that the simple things are the most profound. Intellect can be used to convey things in small words, which only require small words.

  • A true legend.

  • That's unfair. What Wilder said rings true. Millions of people around the world (heck, billions!) are seen as "poor". Does that mean they all are miserable? Of course not. The problem is that we sitting here commenting on YouTube has gotten so used to having "everything", even most "poor" people in western countries have cell phones, a big screen tv, a computer etc, we've all started to confuse having a lot of stuff with happiness. Money brings you financial security, sure, but rarely happiness.

  • The richest friend that I know...is probably the most unhappy

  • Actually Wilder does have a point about poor people and miserable people. I know and grew up with many 'poor' people but their family bonds were strong and their needs simple. Depends on the context of 'poor'.

  • That's a great observation about pacing. He nails it. But he should have stopped there. That bit about poor people being happy - seems his success has made him forget a few things. 'Course as great as Wilder was, he never made a charming version of Animal Farm.

  • impeccable filmmaker.

  • These clips are so beautiful and insightful. I've actually never heard Wilder speak so this is quite satisfying.

  • Amen
