40 LTTE terrorists killed in confrontations with the troops

40 LTTE terrorists have died in confrontations with the Security Forces during the past 48 hours. Military Spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara said the offensives took place in Mannar, Vavuniya, Jaffna and Welioya. (10/02/2008)

The Army retaliated an attempt by the LTTE to attack the Periyapandi Vilichchan at 6.50 am yesterday. 15 Tigers died in this encounter. The number of terrorists killed in skirmishes at several places such as Kovilmodai, Navatkulam, Mullikulam and Laalayankulam was 12. The Security Forces unleashed sporadic attacks on the Forward Defence Line at Muhamalai in Jaffna. As a result, seven terrorists were killed. Another four tigers died in attacks at Kattankulam and Chettikulam in Mannar. The Military Spokesman pointed out that three tiger terrorists lost their lives in an encounter at Thoppigala in Welioya last afternoon.
