  • This is a good encounter, in my opinion. The police "got a bunch of calls" and they came out to investigate. They chatted the guy up, saw no reason to be concerned, and left.

Perfectly handled on all sides, as far as I can tell.

  • @ViperGTS19801

They did criticize my choice... and ask me to cover it up. But, truth be told you are correct, ultimately they did leave me be, which is what we all want.

  • Open carry, in my experience, is generally a bad idea regardless of the venue. Personally, the last thing I want is for everyone to know I am carrying...there goes the element of surprise. Plus, you never know who is watching. Even if you're Dirty Harry, you can get bushwhacked. Some may actually target someone wearing a pistol just so they can take your pistol! I understand that it's our right, however sometimes common sense prevails. I'm glad you carry, but let's keep it real.

I have heard and respect this point of view. Although, while that is a possibility, in my experience it much more often acts as a deterrent, preventing a crime before it happens, as opposed to having to stop a crime in progress. There are documented cases of this happening, which I can look up for you if you'd like.

Again, not saying you are wrong, just citing my own personal experience.

  • @thedomnatr There's really no use in arguing the point with people like you. There were not actually that many kids around, but even so, there are merits to open carry. These kids you speak of ought to know that 'gun' does not automatically equal 'bad'. Many adults need this education as well. Additionally would-be criminals are generally deterred by open carry, whereas if I were concealing, a criminal would act as normal, and I'd be more likely to have to shoot, which is bad in crowded areas.

  • Haha, i live here. The bigger cop on the right was Ken Hardy. He's a pretty good guy, a reasonable cop.

  • @christianpatriot125 because they like to fish

  • @thedomnatr wait... so you have the right to but shouldnt so you dont get hassled? I dont think thats a right if thats the way it works.

I'm fully supportive of any person who open carries in my jurisdiction. Just keep it in the holster. Carry on.

  • @YllwFvrPB

I agree on not carrying ID. Why does a policeman need to run ID on people who are obeying the law?

  • You should of asked the pig why he's carrying a gun. LOL

  • you tell a black person they can't ride a bus with white ppl and you violate his rights but you tell us we can't open carry and it's ok Hmmmm something messed up there
