Hi. I have to admit that I might be a bit wrong here. I have watched it in Digital 3D, which I'm pretty sure is 2.35:1. But IMAX movies I believe are in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. I just have never been to IMAX theater (shame on me). Anyway, they don't use the same technology now. They shoot with spherical lenses, but keep the ratio @ 2.35:1 ;)

@theinsane102 It IS in Cinemascope format and 3D. Cinemascope is just wide screen in 2.35:1 ratio - a standard format these days.

I really feel that with widescreen were missing out on the feeling of height. Like for example standing besides a skyscraper, or at the edge of a cliff. I think were missing out on taking advantage of visceral human response in many, many situations.

Wish the restored version of Napoleon that played cinemas around 1990 would be released to DVD. With wide-screen t.v. the three screen scenes wouldn't be shrunken down to stamp size like the home video version was.
