    The practical effects in this film are great, and show far greater craftsmanship, innovation and ingenuity than anything generated on a computer. I camera effects, models and practical effects are incredibly inspiring, and they show that imagination was still alive in film until the modern CGI-lead obsession with 'photo-realism' killed it. Honestly, outdated CGI which was once 'state of the art' is far more jarring than top notch practical. Cue: The Thing.

    i know, old CGI looks better than CGI nowdays. I missed this film, i remember watching it years ago. Anyone know about Phantasm, thats an awesome film.

    i dont get it... why is CGI shitted on by everyone? sure a lot of movies have way too much or really shitty CGI... but its still "an art form" just like drawing or painting... and how was it more jarring back in the day? .... then again nothing is really jarring to me so i guess i cant speak... also holy crap its been a year? wooow
