While watching the film I noticed that there was faint dialogue just under the music, barely there, but discernible. It looks as if the sound guys at the studio did not erase all of Bela's dialogue, but turned it down very low. I couldn't tell what he was saying as it was so faint, but with extensive EQ-ing, i found out! For the the first time since 1943, hear Bela Lugosi as Frankenstein's monster with Ygor's voice speaking the lines "This is it!".

This is 100% real, no dubbing!!

  • His jaw is moving if you look closely, and that it his 'Ygor' voice.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. Poor Bela. Just could never get a break. He commanded ever scene he was ever in. He almost got to be in "Dracula's Daughter," with James Whale as the director. The project never got off the ground but you can buy and read the script to imagine what it might have been.

  • Great work on this! One of my film fantasies is that they would restore this film with all of Lugosi's cut out dialogue!

  • oh yeah theres one more possabilitie, remember in bride of frankenstein when the monster learns to talk by the old blind man?

  • eieiowens is right. because of one possebilitie, , remember in ghost of frankenstein that igors brain went into the monsters body? and eieiowens says its his igor voice. so this could be the return of the igor frankenstein monster.

  • @mjm5mm

I don't know if the intention was to call it Dracula's Daughter, but the initial script had Bela Lugosi as the living Count fighting an evil sorcerer played by Boris Karloff and seemed to be the height of early 30's era bad taste with dismembered corpses, people in chains and references to cannibalism.

  • @mjm5mm 'Dracula's Daughter' did get off the ground; it's now on DVD (Bela's not in it, though).

  • AMAZING!!! YOU ARE A GENIUS MAN. But how did you it WAS Bela, because I can't see his jaw moving, but I can clearly hear his voice?
