Customer Service (dont Want to Say Further, Fear of Termination) in Burnaby, BC (Canada): (Current Employee)

Start listening or the ship is going to sink, even though it's already taking on water

Pros

1. It's the fellow coworkers
2. RRSP matched by eBay, up to 4%
3. Stock purchase plan
4. Monthly (from metrics) and quaterly (changing to bi-yearly, based on company goals) bonuses

Cons

1. Upper management doesn't listen to any advice

2. Upper management makes stupid changes without thoroughly thinking it though

3. Work environment is too metric based. Case in point, there is a program that tells you when you need to take your lunch or break and if you don't do it at the time specified, you are deducted points. 2 min or 5 min over, it doesn't matter

4. Work life balance, if you do good, you get a good shift. Don't meet metrics once before shift bid is up, don't expect to get a good shift. Someone I know that use to work there got moved to late afternoon start from early mornings. Even though he said it conflicted with school, they still wouldn't budge.

5. Sick days, we don't get sick days. Sick one day, you get an occurrance. Get 5 - 7 occurrances and you can be terminated.

6. Can't take time off on the same day you request even though you have the banked hours.

7. Bugs. What can I say. There are bugs that have been open or known for a year and nothing is done.

8. Paypal and eBay customer service communication is the pits. Paypal issues get sent to eBay and vice versa on a daily basis with the offending rep saying "it's not a paypal issue" even though you are signed into paypal.com

9. Outsourced work. Sure, some company's outsource. When eBay started outsourcing, they said no jobs would be lost due to it. Well, jobs have been lost.

10. Outsourced workers (India and Phillipines) have a decent understanding of eBay issues. However, support for them has been removed last month. They now rely on this thing called "knowledge base". Good luck with that and helping a customer out with an unique issue. It's not always cookies and cache...

11. Closure or outsource of several key departments. Image services, account closures, Account security, Internal helpline support, etc just to name a few have been closed down or outsourced. With the closure of a department, you rarely have a chance to say where you want to go in the company. They just stick it to you and if you don't like it, they don't care if you leave. (ie: helpline going from a specialist position you had to apply for and being moved to a topbuyer entry position that ebay hired off the street)

12. The lying. Ask upper management something and even though they know the answer, it's either beat around the bush until you give up or they are not heard from again.

  • Microsoft flight simulator music?

  • Correct! :)

  • go to google and search-- how to buy sell online.

you will get results on the google page, on the left side of the page says: "sponsored links".

Click on the sponsored links with ebay or paypal dotcom or dotca or dot whatever.

Click as many times as you wish.

Each click google will charge them a tiny fee.

But imagine millions of unhappy ebay paypal users do the click every day everytime online, you can do your calculation.

    Unhappy with ebay paypal?

Go ahead and take your steps.

  • Very clever, however on 'my' browser, the 'sponsored links' are on the right side of the page, not the left side. lol

Anyway, I downloaded this kewl little program called "Ghost Mouse", and once you hit 'record', it records everything your mouse does. So, I did the following task:

    1. Opened a browser.

    2. Ventured to google's homepage.

    3. Entered "how to buy sell online" into the search engine provided and hit "search".

(more to follow on next post)

  • 4. I then perused the right side of the results page and clicked on the "More sponsored links" until I saw an ebay link stating "Come to eBay for deals, and save up to 30% off retail price! ".

    5. I then hit 'record' on my "Ghost Mouse" followed by hitting the ebay link. I then clicked back-page and then hit the link again, repeating this process about 20 times before stopping my "Ghost Mouse" record.

(more to follow on next post)

  • 6. I then rang a friend to head out to our coffee hangout and returned 3 hours later, and before I left, I enabled "play" on the "Ghost Mouse", and it was still clicking away when I got home a few minutes ago.

I can't imaging how many clicks it made while I was out, but it must've been in the 10's of thousands... a small task for such great enjoyment. :)

  • Hope A Different company with a ton of money creates a new Buying and Selling platform that works well for both people. Ebay will become the next AOL.

  • Fuck you Johny donawho... and whoever in charge of paypal, fuck him too.

  • THE WHOLE OPERATION IS A SCAM!!!!!!

  • thats the fsx theme!

  • Funny how all of these comments come from Canada Customer Support. No wonder they got shut down, and consolidated to Salt Lake.

  • Ebay became the parent and turned all of the sellers into little children. NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! No checks or M.O.s, No mutual feedback, a grade book to show how you are doing (seller dashboard & D.S.R's), pep rallies, punishment for bad behavior, two cent rewards for good behavior. FUCK EBAY and the clowns who run it and I mean that sincerely............

  • Used to be a great company! Now they have to branch into other areas for growth because they ran the auction site into the toilet. Expensive, worships the buyer while shitting on the seller, pompous. Shows what poor management can do to a thriving business.

  • Ebay's feedback changes were to mask real reasons!!

It was not about Who's right or wrong.

It was never about a good seller or bad buyer.

The feedback change was really about paypal and ebay manipulating buyer and turning them into FEEDBACK ROBOTS AS A TOOL TO OPPRESS SELLERS.

The whole phony DSR Crap was really never about feedback itself.

It was about keeping sellers down and oppressed and keeping them paying full fees and never really connecting to the SO-CALLED DISCOUNT That ebay dangled.

  • What a shit hole of a company and web site!

  • THE JIANT WIL FALL
