Segment 1:
Master Kan: We do not punish for trust...if while building a house...a carpenter strikes a nail...it proves faulty by bending...does the carpenter lose faith in ALL nails?...and stop building his house?

Young Caine: what is the value of truth Master?

Master Kan: it binds one to the reality of ones self

Young Caine: this is hard for me to understand

Master Kan: so is truth...hard to understand...except that which cannot be spoken

Young Caine: but should I not ALWAYS speak the truth?...no matter what the consequences?

Master Kan: recognize that ALL words are part false and part true.......limited by our imperfect understanding.....but strive always for honesty within yourself

Segment 3:
Kwai Chang Caine: we prefer not to drink liquor

Master Po: Fear is the only darkness.....never assume because a man has no eyes.... he cannot see....close your eyes...what do you hear?

Young Caine: I hear the water....I hear the birds....

Master Po: do you hear your own heartbeat?

Young Caine: No.

Master Po: do you hear the grasshopper....which is at your feet?

Young Caine: old man....how is it that you hear these things?

Master Po: young man....how is it that... you do not?
