When removing the old window frame, the installer was using a Sawzall. It that the tool commonly used to remove those old windows that have a nail-fin?
My leaky old old Andersen 4040 sliders have a vinyl nail fin.. :(

Yes it is the most common used tool to remove any window type (with or without nailing flange). The most important part is how the new windows will be sealed to the existing siding. Actually prior to install the new windows the existing windows and opening should be inspected to find where the water infiltration was coming from in order to apply the correct solution.
